As we all know, the right vehicle is paramount to a successful camping trip. Over the years we have had multiple cars from a Hyundai Coupe believe it or not to a Ford Focus. Our current vehicle for commuting and social pleasure is the Dacia Logan MCV. We opted for the Access 1 litre SCe. there are many models of this vehicle. The below information outlines basic data for these models:

Reasons to buy for camping

Although this is effectively a 1L estate car, seeing as the engine is a newer built engine they all have a built in turbo,  so it has some awesome pull on it. This car gets up a hill with a full load with no issues. We chose to go for this as it was cheap to buy new and it has 576 litres of boot space without the seats down. With the seats down it jumps to an incredible 1,518 litres WOW surprised

It also has longitudinal roof bars so we wont have to but the nasty crossbars with feet that attach to the body of the car and thus damage the paint work. It is also a low group in insurance, not that this matters as my wife has been driving over 25 years and I have been driving over a decade, however it does help keep the insurance cost down.

The fuel economy on this vehicle is brilliant, a full tank will last me half a month which is awesome.

Now for the all important bit, packing ie: CAR TETRIS!!! This car, with itys ample boot space allows us to pack our entire camping gear into the car with room for more (im still trying to resist buying more LOL). So thats an 8 berth inflatable tent, its awning and canopy, EHU, fridge, tables, sleeping bags and camp bed, kitchen unit, lights, food, drink, clothes, chairs, inflatable sofas and the KITCHEN SINK tongue-out

Negative Points

The only real issues I have with the vehicle do not take away from its awesomeness but I have manual wing mirrors and a manual boot. There is a clip by the drivers seat to unlock the boot so I dont understand why they couldn't put on on the key or on the boot dor. The manual mirrors are a niggle to me as in my honest opinion, unless someone is with you, you cannot effectively adjust your passenger wing mirror and get it in the right position as you are moving back and forth to adjust it. Its 2018 ALL CARS SHOULD HAVE ELECTRIC WING MIRRORS!

What did make me chuckle is they scrimped on these features yet I have hillstart assist. I'm not being funny but I dont need this as I CAN DRIVE!

All in all the car is excellent and a good runner for camping and day to day running around.

Verdict: 9/10
